LA Galaxy midfielder Riqui Puig has explained leaving Barcelona.

Puig stunned many inside Spanish football by choosing to join the Galaxy at 23 years of age.

But he explained, "Being in Barcelona while all my teammates were in Los Angeles playing games... The truth is that it hurt me a lot.

"Sometimes you have to make decisions, they made this one, but I don't share it. I have to thank Barça because thanks to them I am who I am as a player.

"The last stretch of my life in Barcelona did not go as I would like or they did not treat me as I would like. It is something that can be forgotten eventually."

Puig also said: "The truth is that the level has impressed me, there is a high level, a lot of competition, that is always good in high-level teams.

"I'm going to give it my all and try to give the team more quality if possible. I'm very happy to be here, I think it's a fantastic group."
