Super agent Jorge Mendes has sabotaged Manchester United's move for AS Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, it has been revealed.

United boss Jose Mourinho is keen on the teenage striker and had enlisted Mendes to spearhead negotiations.

Mendes is close to Monaco's board and Mourinho saw this as an advantage on rivals Real Madrid and Arsenal.

However, L'Equipe says Mendes' involvement has left Mbappe's camp unimpressed.

There's a disappointment over the Portuguese's attempt to impose himself on negotiations and the move by Mourinho appears to now have backfired.
