Kyle Walker prepared to fight for Tottenham and England place

Kyle Walker is happy fighting for his place at Tottenham and with England.

After establishing himself at Spurs, he is ready to fight Glen Johnson and Micah Richards for an England place. Not to mention Manchester United's Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, who have both filled in at right-back for Fabio Capello.

Walker is no stranger to competition at White Hart Lane. He told the People: "When I first came, there must have been five or six right-backs - Pascal Chimbonda, Alan Hutton, Vedran Corluka, my great friend Kyle Naughton, who came from Sheffield with me, and Chris Gunter.

"It wasn't as if they were average right-backs either, they were mostly internationals.

"But I worked hard and Harry Redknapp promised me he'd narrow it down. He stuck to his word - hopefully I can repay him.

"You always take on board what the gaffer says, he knows exactly what he is talking about. Aaron Lennon gives me a lot of advice too, on when to go forward and when not to. I just want to be the complete right-back.

"I've got an England shirt hung up in my house from when I was an unused sub against Denmark. I cherish that.

"I don't know if I'd have played against Holland, but of course it's a great ambition to play for England."
