Bordeaux defender Laurent Koscielny admits he tried to get his old Arsenal teammate Olivier Giroud to sign for the club.

The two were close at Arsenal and won several trophies together.

While Koscielny did not leave the Gunners on the best of terms, he still speaks with Giroud.

And he revealed a January attempt to get Giroud to Bordeaux last season.

Asked about the attempted recruitment, the 35-year-old told France Football: "Yeah, that's right. I tried.

"Oli didn't come and I totally respect his choice."

Giroud ultimately stayed at Chelsea and then got another one year deal in May.
