Knighton claims Man Utd takeover talks 'moving forward'

Former Manchester United director Michael Knighton has suggested that his plan to submit a formal offer to buy the club is 'moving forward'.

Knighton announced last month that he was forming a consortium to purchase the club from the Glazers.

A spokesperson for fellow British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe also confirmed that he too was interested in buying the Red Devils.

While nothing concrete has been put forward, Knighton is optimistic about his plans.

On his Twitter page, Knighton posted: "Thank you, all, for the wonderful messages of support. There is much going on behind the scenes.

"Things are moving forward as planned. I apologise I can't be on this platform more, just bogged down in meetings.

"God bless & every good with to all of you. Your support is greatly appreciated."
