Zat Knight believes Bolton's pre-season tour to North America will act as perfect preparation for the new Premier League campaign, reports the Manchester Evening News. Owen Coyle's team have flown out for fixtures against Charlotte Eagles and Charleston Battery before moving to Canada to face Toronto FC.
"Everyone knows what pre-season is about so you have to do plenty of preparation yourself in readiness," he said.
"It takes a bit of toll on the body during the first week or so but it isn't that much of a shock to the system.
"The senior professionals know what it takes to get to back to the levels you need to play at the highest standard.
"So, we appreciate ourselves and the players around us. Plus the manager has stressed the point of doing the work for ourselves because people have different ways to get to their maximum."
"But I'm looking forward to the trip. It will be a big test because the teams we are going to play will be three months into their season."
