Klopp taking careful approach with Liverpool striker

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has begun the task of overturning his side's fortunes this season by starting with Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge missed the German manager's first game in charge of the Reds on Saturday after suffering a knee injury in training and Klopp is determined to help the England man return to full fitness little by little.

Klopp told reporters: "I've known Daniel now for one week and for six days he was perfect in training. Everything we did he was full of power, skills. He was outstanding.

"We need Daniel for sure and if we played the Tottenham game on Thursday then maybe he would play. No problem. I trust 100 per cent this player.

Discussing whether Sturridge would feature in Liverpool's Europa League match against Rubin Kazan this week, Klopp revealed that he may not risk the former Chelsea and Manchester City man.

"If the medics and physiotherapists tell me it is not possible, then it is not possible. I don't have to discuss it, just think about another solution," he added.
