Klopp could play Liverpool kids in FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could play the kids in their FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town this weekend.

The Liverpool Echo says Liverpool have postponed their FA Youth Cup game against Burnley on Friday - prompting speculation Klopp may turn to the youngsters for the first team this weekend.

The Reds under-18s were due to take on the Clarets behind closed doors at Kirkby in the fourth round of the competition having seen off Fleetwood Town in the previous round.

However, the game was called off on Wednesday afternoon just hours after the senior side's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Arsenal on Thursday was called off in the wake of an coronavirus outbreak that has forced the Reds to temporarily close their first-team training facility at Kirkby.

Liverpool are due to entertain Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon.

As it stands, the fixture remains on, with a tweet from the club's fan services Twitter account declaring: "The match against Shrewsbury on Sun 9th Jan is still scheduled to go ahead but please keep checking our website for updates. Thanks!"
