Newcastle United director of football Joe Kinnear says he won't interfere in the work of chief scout Graham Carr.

Kinnear is expected to be in the stands for each game and will travel with the team, which leaves Carr to continue scouring Europe for new stars.

Kinnear told the Evening Chronicle: "If I think the team needs a Jimmy Greaves, then we will go out and find a Jimmy Greaves.

"Graham is a Geordie boy and an excellent scout with a great record."
