Tottenham defender Ledley King is determined to play on for England.
The Spurs board are set to offer their skipper a deal that includes compensation for the defender retiring from England duty, says the Sunday Mirror.
But the 28-year-old, who has 14 months remaining on his current deal, has no plans to retire from international football and will reject a new contract if, as expected, it is structured as a pay-as-you-play deal.
A White Hart Lane insider said last night: "Given the concerns over his knee injury it would make sense for him to retire from England, receive compensation, and extend his playing career at the club."
But a source close to King said last night: "He is not even considering retiring from international football and if Spurs attempt to offer him a pay-as-you-play deal he will immediately reject it out of hand.
"Such an offer would be an absolute insult. He has been at the club for over a decade and any contract should reflect that loyalty. Besides, he could play for any of the top teams in Europe on a pay-as-you-play deal."
