Kilmarnock return for Eremenko not yet over the line

Kilmarnock boss Allan Johnston says a deal to bring Alexei Eremenko back to the club is not yet sorted.

The 30-year old Finnish midfielder impressed for Killie during his loan spell from Metalist Kharkiv in 2010/11 and was on hand to watch his former club beat Inverness 2-0 at Rugby Park on Saturday.

Eremenko, currently with Kazakhstani club Kairat Almaty, is being heavily linked with another spell in Ayrshire but Johnston admits he has to wait before a deal can be concluded.

"I don't know how close we are yet but I will speak to Alexei later," said the Killie boss.

"Obviously we are interested in quality players and it would be great to get him here.

"Time will tell whether we can afford him but it is a positive that we have got him here to talk. It doesn't guarantee anything so we will have to wait and see."
