Chesterfield have swooped for defender Simon Ford on a two-year contract from Kilmarnock. Ford, who made 163 appearances during his time at Kilmarnock, was out of contract at Rugby Park and has opted for a return to English football.
The former Grimsby Town stopper was attracting interest from several clubs, with the likes of Carlisle United, Dundee and St Johnstone all understood to be keen.
He told the League Two club's official website: "Although I had some options I am delighted to be joining Chesterfield and am really looking forward to kicking off the season at what is a fabulous new stadium."
