Kiat Lim takes up new role with Valencia: I'm here to learn

Kiat Lim, the son of Valencia owner Peter Lim, has spent a busy 48 hours of fact-finding before returning home to Singapore.

Kiat participated in the shareholders meeting, attended the press conference of president Layhoon Chan, had dinner with coach Rino Gattuso and director Miguel Angel Corona, saw the training session the next day, visited what has been built at the new Mestalla and met with the mayor, Joan Ribó.

Peter Lim's idea is for his son to assume more responsibilities with the club.

Kiat said, "I accept this new role and look forward to working closely with the president for the new future of the Club. I will carry out my responsibilities like any other member of the Board of Directors.

"I also note that maybe I'm in a different position as well, so I'm going to work even harder and be more committed to learning to really try to immerse myself in the culture here. I don't want to use cultural differences as an excuse, although it is a fact that it exists.

"I hope to be in contact when I am here in Valencia with the fan groups around the Club so that I can broaden my perspective and learn by listening to the Peñas. So I look forward to that time when I return in the future. Let's fix this situation. We will communicate so that I can work on the ground and listen and really learn."
