Fit-again Kevin Strootman is grateful to Roma for the support he received during his injury woes.

The Dutch midfielder has experienced recurring anterior cruciate ligament problems since his arrival at Stadio Olimpico in 2013, requiring surgery on three occasions.

"Maybe for other players it is different, but I am grateful to Roma," Strootman said. “After having been out for three seasons it is important to be ready to play.

“Especially for us, because in three weeks we have our most important matches of the year, the Champions League play-offs.

“The games we will play against Liverpool and Montreal will be very important because we will need to show what we can do.

“I am happy to be back with the team, I feel good."
