Kevan happy to remain at Notts County as deputy

Notts County caretaker boss Dave Kevan is prepared to stay at the League Two club as assistant manager to the new Magpies chief. Kevan is in charge for the second time in two months following the departure of Hans Backe, but insists he has no interest in taking the top job.

"I don't want the manager's job permanently," he told the Evening Post. "I think I'm more suited to my role coaching the players every day and being a mediator between them and the manager.

"I would like to work with the next manager. I enjoy working here, there are a lot of good people at the club and the supporters have always been very good with me.

"We have got a good group of players that I enjoy working with too. I would hope that will continue. If not, so be it."
