"We felt it was very important he came with us," Keegan told nufcTV. "It was such a sudden thing with his mother.
"But hopefully the lads will help him get over it. He won't play, He's got a slight problem with his knee and has had an injection so won't be able to play for the next four or five days.
"He'll have his treatment over here and do his little bit of gym work around the lads and we felt it would be beneficial to come with us."
