Keane, Donovan, Beckham took account for LA Galaxy's bad phase - Magee

LA Galaxy's Mike Magee has revealed that the clubs three big names took account of the poor start to the season.

The reigning MLS champions won just three of their opening 13 league matches to find themselves at the bottom of the Western Conference table and Magee says that stars Robbie Keane, David Beckham and Landon Donovan made sure the bad form started with them.

"Everyone started holding everyone accountable," Magee said.

"There were times even Robbie and David were getting on each other, and Landon, and all three of those guys realized it had to start with them, and it just trickled down where anytime someone made a mistake - it didn't matter who it was - they were being held accountable."

Since the poor beginning, the Galaxy have won six of their next nine and Magee believes it is because of the influence of the big trio.

"Which before, it was kind of maybe walking on eggshells or thinking you couldn't say something to somebody because you were a younger player," he added.

"The big-timers on the team stepped up and said, 'If I mess up, you better say something.' And guys did. Guys reacted well."
