Rick Karsdorp returned to AS Roma over the weekend - with the squad and coach Jose Mourinho on the other side of the world in Japan.

Karsdrop went AWOL from Roma last week, returning home to Holland before presenting the club with a doctor's certificate citing 'psychological malaise' for reasons for his absence.

He returned to Italy on the weekend and visited the Trigoria HQ to discuss his absence.

But he was soon back on the flight to Holland, says Il Corriere dello Sport.

Roma sports chief Tiago Pinto will address the situation when he returns from Japan, with a loan departure the most likely option.
