Nwankwo Kanu is expected to sign a new contract with Portsmouth today.

The Nigeria international has returned to training with Pompey after an extended close-season break which followed the impasse over whether he would either sign a new one-year deal, hold out for two years, or move on.

But Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie and the player's representative finally reached an agreement over Kanu's future on Wednesday night.

Now he is set to sign a one-year deal with a year's option - which will be activated provided he plays a required number of games.
