Former Nigeria U20 international Joseph Atang Thompson is reportedly close to a move to MLS club Sporting Kansas City.

SuperSport.com suggests that the 21-year old Kano Pillars midfielder is set to join the club formerly known as the Wizards but a US visa is stalling the move.

Nigerian player agent Kinglsey Chukwuemeka said that the Thompson deal was close to happening but said only if the visa issues can be solved.

"We have been on this deal for some time now. Thompson is highly regarded by Kansas City and they are keen to bring him to America," the agent said.

"But we have been faced with the problem of trying to get him a visa to travel down here (to the United States)."
