Former Manchester United winger Andrei Kanchelskis is happy to his old team win the Carabao Cup.

United won 2-0 at Wembley against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Former Russia international star Kanchelskis told Sport-Express: "A good trophy for the fans and the team after such a winless period.

"We will draw conclusions at the end of the season. It's early now. A win - it's good. Newcastle are still a good team. They also have big sponsors, let's say that."

Kanchelskis says Marcus Rashford needs a successful United to reach his potential.

He continued, "Rashford is United's best player at the moment. You have to be on top in the championship of England and in European competition. Then we will talk about the fact that he is one of the best in the world, like (Kylian) Messi, (Cristian) Ronaldo, (Kylian) Mbappe and other players."
