German legend Oliver Kahn has warned Manchester United they face a battle to land Schalke 04 goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
The Germany No1 is emerging as a top target for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
But Kahn revealed: "In the past, England always had great goalkeepers, like Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton, but now there is a question why they can't produce world-class goalkeepers any more.
"Bayern Munich has a policy that the German No1 keeper must be in their goal. English clubs have foreign goalkeepers, which makes it hard for the national team and makes it difficult to develop a goalkeeper."
