Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin admits he has considered an early retirement.

Perin, 29, concedes his spate of injuries had him thinking about his playing future.

“After the last shoulder injury, which was the fifth operation in five years, I thought about retiring. I even talked about it with my agent and a few close friends," he told Mind the Gun.

“Thanks to my agent, my closest teammates and my family, and Nicoletta, the person with whom I started a personal journey, I rediscovered my passion for this sport that has given me so much emotionally, in terms of friendships and affection.

“I realised that it was just a moment of frustration because of the many operations, I had lost my love for the game and I could no longer enjoy myself. Then I also changed some aspects of my way of seeing things and acting, and I found the passion and the fun again."
