Juan Mata was delighted to make a winning Manchester United debut for victory over Cardiff City.
The Spaniard assured his new club's fans that the United players will not give up on claiming a top four finish in the Premier League.
"We had chances to score more than two. The win was very important for the team. It was very exciting for me," Mata told BBC Sport.
"The fans are unbelievable. The lads welcomed me very well. I think it was a good game, I'm looking forward to improve. We will try until the end [to finish in the Champions League places]. We will never give up."
