Josh Doig was delighted to help Hellas Verona to victory over Sampdoria.

The former Hibs fullback struck his first goal for his Serie A club.

He later said: "Beautiful, an incredible emotion. I didn't expect to score tonight: I'm happy to have been able to help the team in this way.

"It was a difficult match, but we are a compact team, we did not disunite after their goal and we were able to react immediately by scoring two goals. In the second half we continued to fight and created many chances: now a match (against Lazio) awaits us. It'll be complicated where, however, we will give our best as always.

"The fans tonight supported us for all the 90 minutes and gave us the strength to give everything to the last. They were fantastic, their support was our fuel."
