Former Southampton boss Dave Jones has been linked with a return to the south coast and the vacant managerial position at Portsmouth. Pompey are searching for a new manager after Steve Cotterill's move to Nottingham Forest last week.
But Jones has dismissed the reports as mere speculation and insists that claims he watched Portsmouth beat Barnsley 2-0 on Saturday as fiction.
He told The News: "I am flattered to be linked with the job but I have had no contact with the club whatsoever. That is all I want to say really. But it definitely wasn't me seen at Fratton Park on Saturday. I feel sorry for the fella if he looked like me."
