Jones insists Man Utd 'not good enough' to beat Newcastle

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has not offered any excuses after his side lost 1-0 to Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Magpies were allowed to score the only goal of the game when Matt Richie pounced a loose ball inside the United box. The ball was brought down to ground level by Ayoze Perez, who was able to head the ball down unchallenged.

"We were poor," said Jones. "Slow and sloppy. They got momentum and they gained their momentum and then in the second half we had a few chances cleared off the line but we are not kidding ourselves we weren't good enough today," he told MUTV.

"In the second half in the last 15 minutes we had three or four balls cleared off the line and they are scrapping for their lives. That's the sort of luck they needed and they got it today.

"But, it wasn't about luck today we just were not good enough."
