Jones happy to join T&T family at Sunderland

Kenwyne Jones admits he's happy to expand the Trinidad & Tobago family at Sunderland.

The former Southampton striker told the Evening Chronicle: "I have two friends here in Dwight Yorke and Carlos Edwards and I have seen what they have done here.

"I know about the manager and I have played at the Stadium of Light before, so I know what it is all about.

"It was sad to see Stern (John) go the other direction, but that is football and I wish him all of the best.

"I often spoke to Dwight before I came here and for weeks I have been talking about coming here. Dwight helped to persuade me to come here and it does help to have a friend here.

"I think it was a major part of my decision. They told me about the club and the manager."
