Jonathan Viera slams Las Palmas coach Garcia Pimienta in farewell media conference

Jonathan Viera admits he's leaving Las Palmas due to coach Javi Garcia Pimienta.

Viera was released from his contract last week and is now free to find himself a new club.

At today's farewell media conference, he said: "You don't have to have a crystal ball to know that there is a problem with the coach. I don't know what his problem is, I do know what mine is. My problem with him, I don't know what his problem is with me because he hasn't explained it to me.

"There's no more. From there everything began to get complicated and I, in order not to create an increasingly bigger problem, spoke to the president and told him that it was best to step aside, the team is fine and is winning."

But he didn't stop there and delved deeper into the situation.

“I don't know the problem the coach has had with me. I have had a very serious personal problem with my wife [...] thank God everything is fine, everything is perfect so we can focus on other things. I think that if there is someone who has been fair, brave in the coach's worst moments, it has been me, I have always shown my face, in all the moments when he has had a downturn.

"Well, at this moment when I had a downturn, the only thing I wanted was for him to come to me and tell me: 'Hey, I hope your wife is okay, we're with you.' If I then play more or less... This is football, what are we going to do?

"It will screw me, it's clear, I always like to play.... But if I was there in a moment of your downturn, what else than to come closer to me and tell me how your wife is, I hope everything is fine. End. There is no more. The problem that the coach has, you ask him because I don't know."
