Martin Jol has revealed the heart-breaking way he learned of his dismissal at Tottenham on Thursday.
He told a pal: "I'm not bitter about what happened but I'm not happy with the way it was handled. The players all knew and were texting friends and family.
"The fans all knew and the club had already appointed someone else - but they still let me take charge of the UEFA Cup game.
"The fans singing my name meant so much to me. I will always love Tottenham."
A club source said: "Martin was very angry. He had been told that if the end did come for him, the situation would be handled with dignity.
"Here he was in a situation 100 times worse than when he first heard about the club trying to recruit Ramos."
