Johnson happy at Portsmouth

Glenn Johnson believes that he is at the right club as he looks to become the fourth Portsmouth player to represent England this season against France on Wednesday.

The right back is in the squad to play the World Cup finalists along with goalkeeper David James, whilst striker Jermain Defoe missed the cut from the initial 30-man squad and Sol Campbell has also played for the Three Lions in the last year.

. Johnson cites the club's progress in The Premier League this season as being responsible for the lack of surprise at his call up. He said: "David James has proved before that you can play for Portsmouth and England - you don't have to play for one of the top four clubs.

"It shows how well we are doing that myself, David and Jermain are all in or around the England squad," he told the club's official website.

The 23-year-old regards his decision to leave Chelsea in August to be justified by his inclusion in England manager Fabio Capello's latest squad.

Johnson said: "This is the first time I've been playing regularly since I first signed for Chelsea. Going there was a good decision at the time but things change and I lost two years football as a result."
