Johnson delighted to win on Sunderland home debut

Sunderland winger Adam Johnson was delighted with victory over Wigan Athletic.

The winger made his home league debut for the Black Cats in the 1-0 win over Wigan having initially been considered doubtful for the game.

"It's great to get off to a winning start on my home league debut and it was an important win for the team as well," he told

"It was quite a late decision [to play]. I did a fitness test before the game and felt good - the best I've felt in weeks.

"The manager decided to play me and obviously I wasn't that sharp, but I'm reasonably happy with how I did.

"I felt fine afterwards as well. I haven't trained too much recently and now it's about getting that sharpness back."
