Johnson convinced England career reignited by Sunderland move

Sunderland winger Adam Johnson is convinced getting away from Manchester City will reignite his England career.

Johnson believes his England career will flourish now he is at Sunderland.

The £10m Black Cats’ winger is convinced regular football, which he didn’t get at Manchester City, will help him stay in Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions squad.

“You do get seen more – and have better opportunities to be seen – by England managers when you play for top four clubs, it’s a fact,” said Johnson, selected for England’s World Cup squad for the upcoming qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.

“But I’m part of the England set-up and I’m hoping that won’t change.”
