Joe Gomez continued his return from injury as Liverpool U23 drew 0-0 at Derby yesterday.

Gomez, who made his return in the 4-0 win over Burnley last Wednesday after more than a year out with a cruciate ligament injury, helped the visitors keep a clean sheet.

And only an inspired performance from Derby's England under-21 international Jonathan Mitchell prevented Michael Beale's side from registering Premier League 2 victory, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Gomez was happy to stride out of defence and twice came close with efforts from range, while in the second half a glancing header from Brooks Lennon was turned over by Mitchell.
