Manolo Jimenez is delighted with his appointment as Sevilla's coach.

Jimenez replaces Juande Ramos, who was confirmed as new manager of Tottenham yesterday, and declared: "I have been working here for seven years in the shadows and so today is a great day for me.

"Sevilla could have signed any coach in the world and it has chosen me.

"This appointment hasn't happened overnight. I have been here for many years and this gamble has paid off for me.

"I know the quality throughout this club. We have 22 players of great ability in the first team and another 25 of the highest level behind them."
