Jets keep perfect Suncorp record as Roar rue missed chances

The Newcastle Jets have kept their 100% record at Suncorp Stadium in tact by beating the Queensland Roar on their home soil yet again on Friday night. In a match that saw the losing team dominate proceedings, Newcastle grabbed all three points thanks to a Joel Griffiths goal in the final ten minutes. Queensland's performance deserved at least a point and coach Frank Farina was ruing some missed chances after the match. He said, "We created opportunities and good chances. We didn't take them, they had one shot on goal I think, Liam (Reddy) saved it and they scored from a scrappy corner. "The manner in which we created those chances I thought was very good. Other nights they're going to go in." Although the Roar sits sixth on the A-League table, Farina was remaining positive despite the loss. "Disappointed but you move on," he added. "You can't dwell on it, we've got (matches against Melbourne and Sydney) and that'll be the end of round one. We're still in touch." The Roar faces league leaders Melbourne Victory at the Telstra Dome next Sunday whilst Newcastle, who are now one spot above the Roar on the table, travel to Hindmarsh Stadium to meet Adelaide United on Saturday night.
