Japan international Muto rejoices after netting double for Mainz

Yoshinori Muto was over the moon after helping FSV Mainz to a 3-0 Bundesliga win on the weekend.

The 23-year-old Japanese striker, who joined the German side from FC Tokyo in the summer, scored twice in the home win against Hannover 96 on Saturday.

Muto opened his account in the 15th minute when slotting home to give Mainz the lead before adding a second in the 29th minute with a close range header which prompted him to rejoice by partaking in the 'Humba' song in the terraces with the supporters.

"Today I wanted to demonstrate what makes me such a strong player in terms of my speed and, of course, my movement off the ball," Muto said.

"I didn't really understand what I was singing [laughs], but I'm assuming we were singing something about Mainz."

"The fans here are superb and I was really honoured to be able to get up in the stands and sing along.

"I hope to be able to join in with the signing again sometime soon, next time off by heart."

The win saw Mainz move up to fifth on the table while finding a new Japanese star to replace Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki.
