Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo has welcomed interest from Manchester United.
The Manchester Evening News says United are currently monitoring the former Manchester City winger and see him as a back-up option to priority target Jadon Sancho, of Borussia Dortmund.
United are keen to add the best homegrown talent to their squad at the end of the season with Matondo viewed as a potential bargain buy in a similar mould to Daniel James last year.
Matondo would be interested in a return to the Premier League after only one year away.
Sources have reiterated his love for Manchester from his time spent at City and cite his close friendship with United winger James as another appealing factor.
