James fears for England keeper stocks beyond Man City No1 Hart

Bristol City No1 David James has big concerns for England's goalkeeping stocks.

Manchester City keeper Joe Hart, 23, is young, has the all-important tournament experience and the talent to become world-class, according to James.

But the lack of quality competition for Hart worries the 40-year-old Bristol City keeper, who still refuses to accept that his England career is over.

He told the Mirror: "Even in the Championship, there's a lot of foreign keepers," he said. "I would like to think there would be more coming through, good young number twos even. But there's not."

James holds up the selection of Cardiff striker Jay Bothroyd as hope for players in the second tier.

He added: "There's a lot of talent down there and with Bothroyd getting the selection is a big thumbs up for the Championship.

"It allows me to harbour my ambition to play for England again and if it happens then it happens. But I won't give up while I still have that ambition."
