Jake Clarke-Salter exclusive: Why I chose QPR after cutting ties with Chelsea

Jake Clarke-Salter took the plunge this season, cutting all ties with Chelsea and signing outright for QPR.

The former England U21 defender says he's delighted with his decision, having come through the academy system at Chelsea.

Speaking with Tribalfootball.com, on behalf of CopyBet, Clarke-Salter said: "It's been really good so far.

"I obviously wanted to get out for a couple years now. I felt like it was my time to to move on and really kick-start my career. So I'm just really happy to be at QPR and hopefully I can keep doing well."

On the decision to leave Stamford Bridge for the R's, Clarke-Salter said: "I spoke with the manager at the time (Michael Beale). I saw the project here. I feel like it's a really good one and it's something I feel like would suit my game well.

"So yeah, I decided that QPR was the right place for me and so far it's been really good and I'm just really happy to be here."

He added: "I needed a fresh start. I needed a home where I can really grow as a player and keep improving."
