Jagielka urges Everton not to take Derby lightly

Phil Jagielka has urged his Everton team-mates to make sure they return to winning ways against Derby on Sunday.

Everton slipped five points behind Liverpool in the race for fourth place as they lost 1-0 to their Merseyside rivals at the weekend.

Jagielka realises the importance of the next match as Everton welcome already-relegated Derby to Goodison Park.

With Portsmouth in FA Cup action, David Moyes' men can stretch their advantage over those below them to seven points, and Jagielka does not want any mistakes.

"It is a long week until next Sunday," Jagielka told the club's official website.

"The Derby game is an important game for us. We have got to win and hopefully kick-start our season again.

"There are plenty of points to play for. The result (on Sunday) hands the initiative to Liverpool but we will be fighting all the way to the end.

"Portsmouth aren't letting go of the chance to play in Europe but we will try and make sure we are the team playing there next season."
