Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is impressed by what he sees from 16-year-old winger Jack Grealish.

Grealish has been training with the squad over the past few weeks and even appeared on the bench against Chelsea.

McLeish said the Republic of Ireland U17 international has held his own in the senior ranks since making the big leap from youth football.

He told Villa's website: "Jack was on the bench and he's only a kid so it's an opportunity for these boys who are being propelled into the first team squad.

"The majority of them have trained with us, by and large, the whole season. The likes of Jack have made a 'guest' appearance every now and then.

"From the start of the season I've seen him grow about three inches!

"At the end of the day if you are good enough, you're old enough, and it doesn't matter about the age.

"The thing we have got in favour is that they have been in and around the older guys for most of the season.

"We don't have to lower the level of training or anything for them because they are all up to speed."
