Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre was last night named the 2010/11 Scottish Professional Footballer's Association Player of the Year.
The 24-year old Honduran international has been impressive in his first season away from his homeland and has been rated the 'signing of the season' by Hoops assistant Johan Mjallby.
Izaguirre scooped the prize from teammate Gary Hooper, Rangers forward Steven Naismith and Kilmarnock star Alex Eremenko and received great praise from Mjallby after being crowned.
"Emilio has probably been the signing of the season and it's brilliant for him to win," the Swede said.
"He has been absolutely marvellous. He is maybe not the best left-back in the world but he is up there.
"I think this boy has every chance to be one of the best in the world."
