Italy legend Zoff defends Palermo keeper Sirigu

Italy legend Dino Zoff has jumped to the defence of Palermo goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu after his gaffe against Estonia.

Sirigu spilled a free kick to give them the lead in Tallinn, but the Azzurri fought back for a 2-1 victory.

“Every now and then a goalkeeper can make a mistake,” said the man who lifted the 1982 World Cup at the age of 40.

“This doesn’t mean anyone should doubt Sirigu’s qualities, as he is an excellent ‘keeper.”
