Istanbul Basaksehir coach Okan Buruk hailed his former Premier League players for their victory over Manchester United.
Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba was on the scoresheet for the 2-1 Champions League win, with ex-Liverpool stopper Martin Skrtel and former United fullback Rafael also impressive.
Okan said, "Skrtel, Rafael and Demba Ba were very good. We may see Demba Ba and Martin at an older age, but they are valuable players in terms of personality and player quality. They go forward and fight in the same way in every match.
"Demba Ba, Martin and Rafael are players with English backgrounds and therefore it is very important to show themselves again but they always try to show it in every performance."
On Ba's positioning, Okan admitted surprise by United's defending.
"It's a really interesting position. Demba Ba was alone when Bolingoli met the ball. Demba Ba was alone when Edin Visca passed the pass. He was alone for a long time, not a very believable position. How did they give this position away? It is not something that happens too much. In the last minute of the match, this is the last minute, such positions are caught, but it was surprising for us for him to catch such a position and score from 0-0."
