Isco: Bartomeu wanted me to leave Real Madrid for Barcelona

Former Real Madrid midfielder Isco admits he had an offer to join Barcelona in 2018.

Isco is currently a free agent after being released by Sevilla.

He recalled to Marca: "They (Real Madrid) renewed me in the World Cup year because I was missing a year and I had earned it. And because I had many offers. They were afraid that I would go to some rival team."

Isco confirmed contact with then Barcelona president Jose Maria Bartomeu.

"Yes. Bartomeu called me and with what Bartomeu paid at that time… But I was very happy in Madrid, with my colleagues, with an incredible atmosphere in the locker room ... It was the team of my dreams, in which I had earned what I dreamed ... I would not leave Madrid for all the gold in the world. As I enjoyed in Madrid I knew that I was not going to enjoy somewhere else."
