Irvine eager to add to West Brom squad

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine retains hope of adding to their squad in the coming days.

Irvine, who travels out to California with his first-team squad today for Albion's summer tour, expects the club to continue to work on recruitment, although he accepts it can be a frustrating time.

"We are doing a lot of work behind the scenes but nowadays it's harder getting signings over the line than it used to be," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"I'm hoping that we will be joined by some players when we're in the States. I think we're closer but so many people get involved, so many clubs get notified of players who are available.

"The fact is that players and agents don't commit early. They find out what their choices are and then make their decisions. You feel you are getting close but not necessarily so."
