New Preston North End boss Alan Irvine admits Dave Moyes had a big say in his move from Everton.

Irvine told evertonTV : "David Moyes was a fantastic help as far as making the decision was concerned. He gave me a great deal of information about Preston as a club and the people at Preston.

"I am very grateful to him for that on top of everything else he has done for me over the years."

Irvine is ready for the extra responsibility that management demands.

"David was very good, he involved me in everything and he wanted to know my opinion on everything but at the end of the day he made the decisions," added the Scot. "Now the buck stops with me and if things aren't right people will be pointing the finger at me and not someone else."
