Iran drop interest in coach Artur Jorge

With the start of the World Cup qualifiers less than four weeks away, Team Melli are still without a coach.

The recently-selected head of the IFF, Ali Kafashian, told state television that Jorge wasn't the man for Iran despite the fact that he has coached the national teams of Portugal, Switzerland and Cameroon.

"Jorge does not have proper conditions to lead the national team for the World Cup and bring us victory," said Kafashian.

Amir Ghalenoei vacated the hotseat after Iran's disappointing performance in last July's Asian Cup.
