A return to Ipswich Town could be on for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham.

The Sunday Sun says Ipswich boss Paul Jewell made a cheeky bid to bring the 18-year-old back to Town just two months after his big-money switch to the North East, only to be rebuffed by the Black Cats' then-manager Steve Bruce.

But Bruce's successor Martin O'Neill would be more receptive to the idea of a loan move after recently admitting the England Under-21 international is still raw and in need of more first-team football before he is ready for the top flight.
